Abstract New and valuable pesticides in which the active ingredient is an organophosphorus compound having the formula WHERE R denotes an organic radical having at most 4 carbon atoms, Z denotes sulfur or oxygen and X denotes a halogen atom, preferably chlorine or bromine, and especially dimethyl dichlorovinyl phosphate (DDVP; generic name: dichlorvos) having the formula The pesticides are valuable agents for controlling insects and animal parasites, especially helminths.
