Abstract
Abstract A system for determining and characterizing slub content of yarns according to their diameter and length is disclosed. Yarn passing at a uniform rate through a photoelectric transducer furnishes an electrical signal output according to the yarn profile. The signal output is processed through various circuit combinations so that slubs are characterized from signal differences about a base yarn diameter and slubs which are in preselected diameter and length categories are counted for a predetermined length of yarn.
