Abstract
Abstract Vinyl phosphonate esters are provided corresponding to the following formula: WHEREIN R is the same or different and is a C1-C12 straight or branched aliphatic group, preferably a methyl group, or a phenyl group or a halo-substituted R group. A process for their production is also disclosed. These compounds are useful as flame retardants, particularly for polyurethane foams, thermoplastic and thermoset resins and cellulosic fibers.
