Abstract
Abstract A phenol of formula: WHERE R1, R2 and R3 independently represent hydrogen or C1-C5 alkyl is obtained by oxidising with hydrogen peroxide a solution of the corresponding aldehyde in a polymethylene sulphone e.g. sulpholane.
