Abstract
Abstract WHEREIN R1 is hydrogen or a lower alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and R2 and R3 are, each, hydrogen, a lower alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl or lower alkyl bearing as a substituent an amine or hydroxy group, and R2 and R3 can also form a polymethylene chain, possibly containing one hetero-atom; these compositions have low toxicity and are devoid of objectionable side effects, such as the asthenizing and myorelaxing effect characteristic of the prior art compounds of the class of the 1,4-benzodiazepines. The therapeutical method is also described. Tranquillizing and anti-anxiety pharmaceutical compositions are disclosed comprising, as the active ingredient, a 1,4-benzodiazepine derivative containing a carbamic ester group, having the general formula:
