Abstract

Abstract A novel process for the production of 1-(acylamino-aryloxy)-3amino-propanol derivative having an excellent Beta -adrenergic blocking effect. The process comprises basically reacting a compound of the formula WHEREIN Z is a hydrogen atom or a protective group bonded to the oxygen atom by an aliphatic ether linkage, and R stands for an alkyl or aralkyl group, with a compound of the formula WHEREIN Ar stands for a substituted or unsubstituted benzene or naphthalene ring, Ac indicates an organic acid residue, and Y represents a hydrogen atom, a monovalent hydrocarbon radical having up to 12 carbon atoms or an organic acid residue, or Y may be bonded to the group Ac to form a diacyl group.
