Abstract
Abstract A process for converting cellulose to a normally liquid oil which includes contacting cellulose with water, a reducing gas and an ammonia-producing compound at particular conditions of temperature and pressure to insure a liquid water phase at conversion conditions employed. The reducing gas may be carbon monoxide, hydrogen, or a mixture thereof.
