Abstract
Abstract Water-based coating compositions are provided by reacting an hydroxy functional polyepoxide with a polycarboxylic acid monoanhydride, preferably trimellitic anhydride, in organic solvent medium at critical concentration, and at critical temperature to produce a non-gelled acidic resin which is dispersible in water with the aid of a base.
