Abstract
Abstract Production of functional fluids, including aircraft hydraulic fluids and aircraft engine lubricants of improved fire resistance, comprising a functional fluid base stock, such as a phosphate ester, e.g., tri-n-butyl phosphate, di-n-butyl phenyl phosphate, or mixtures thereof, and/or a dicarboxylic acid ester, e.g., a diester of adipic acid such as diisodecyl adipate, or mixtures of such phosphate ester or esters, and dicarboxylic acid ester, and a small amount of an organic iodo compound such as iodobiphenyl or iodonaphthalene.
