Abstract

Abstract Inertial energy storage rotors are disclosed which contain centrifugal loading elements of such mass and so distributed that the elasticitydensity ratios of radial increments of the rotors increase with mean radius. Some of the disclosed rotors include rings of high tensile strength material, such as glasses or embedded fiber composites. In some of these rotors the centrifugal loading elements are located only in the rings, while in others the centrifugal loading elements are located only between the rings, or both in the rings and between the rings. In some of these rotors there is only one high-strength ring.
