Abstract

Abstract Improved oil recovery from reservoirs having average permeabilities less than 100 md is obtained by injecting into and displacing through the reservoir an aqueous mobility buffer containing an N-sulfohydrocarbon-substituted acrylamide polymer. A micellar solution slug is preferably injected ahead of the buffer slug. This polymer has a reasonably high intrinsic viscosity and permits high injection rates. ''''Plugging'''' of the reservoir is minimal at worst.
