Abstract

Abstract A mounting arrangement for a fuel injector on an engine intake manifold includes a sealing ring engaged against a shoulder in a bore in the manifold. An abutment plate is mounted by a bolt or bolts on the manifold and a spring is disposed between the abutment plate and a flexible ring disposed in a groove in the injector. The flexible ring is slidably received in a further bore in the manifold said further bore being co-axial with the first-mentioned bore. The novel mounting arrangement permits a good seal to be obtained between the injector and the manifold without the necessity of employing close tolerance machining.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 60 words
A mounting arrangement for an injector on an engine intake manifold, said mounting arrangement comprising a sealing ring in a bore in said manifold, an abutment mounted on said manifold and a spring acting between said abutment and said injector through the intermediary of a flexible means so as to urge said injector into sealing engagement with said sealing ring.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 60 words
A mounting arrangement for an injector on an engine intake manifold, said mounting arrangement comprising a sealing ring in a bore in said manifold, an abutment mounted on said manifold and a spring acting between said abutment and said injector through the intermediary of a flexible means so as to urge said injector into sealing engagement with said sealing ring.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 14 words
The arrangement according to claim 1, wherein said flexible means is a flexible ring.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 18 words
The arrangement according to claim 2, wherein said flexible ring is carried in a groove in said injector.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 29 words
The arrangement according to claim 3, wherein said flexible ring is slidably received in a further bore in said manifold, said further bore being co-axial with the first-mentioned bore.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 21 words
The arrangement according to claim 1, wherein said abutment is formed as a plate which is detachably secured to said manifold.
