Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 85 words
A valve comprising a body having a passage therethrough which passage provides an inlet and an outlet for fulid under pressure, a fluid-impermeable disphragm closing said passage to the movement of said fluid, a plurality of electrically actuated and explosively operated devices adapted to perforate said diaphragm, means to sequentially activate said devices thereby producing an initial opening of the diaphragm which is smaller than that of the final opening in said diaphragm followed by an enlarged opening to obtain final opening of said diaphragm.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 85 words
A valve comprising a body having a passage therethrough which passage provides an inlet and an outlet for fulid under pressure, a fluid-impermeable disphragm closing said passage to the movement of said fluid, a plurality of electrically actuated and explosively operated devices adapted to perforate said diaphragm, means to sequentially activate said devices thereby producing an initial opening of the diaphragm which is smaller than that of the final opening in said diaphragm followed by an enlarged opening to obtain final opening of said diaphragm.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 42 words
the valve of claim 1 wherein said diaphragm has relatively thin sections which define a pattern for rupture of the diaphragm and wherein said devices are arranged to perforate said diaphragm adjacent at least a portion of said relatively thin cross section.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 13 words
The valve of claim 2 wherein said devices are electrically actuated blasting caps.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 13 words
The valve of claim 1 wherein said devices are electrically actuated blasting caps.
Claim 6
Independent Claim 63 words
A method for opening a passageway for fluid which passageway is normally closed by a fluid impermeable diaphragm comprising perforating said diaphragm by sequentially actuating electroexplosive diaphragm-perforating means such that there is produced an initial opening of the diaphragm which is smaller than that of the final opening in said diaphragm followed by an enlarged opening to obtain final opening of said diaphragm.
Claim 7
Independent Claim 63 words
A method for opening a passageway for fluid which passageway is normally closed by a fluid impermeable diaphragm comprising perforating said diaphragm by sequentially actuating electroexplosive diaphragm-perforating means such that there is produced an initial opening of the diaphragm which is smaller than that of the final opening in said diaphragm followed by an enlarged opening to obtain final opening of said diaphragm.
