Abstract

Abstract Supported catalysts containing alkali metal for the production of 4-methyl-1-pentene from propylene and a process for their production by heating previously dried support particles in an inert gas atmosphere for at least about 30 minutes at a temperature of at least about 150*C, mixing the support particles obtained with a compound of a transition metal that is thermally decomposable at below about 400*C and an alkali metal and heating the mixture obtained for about 1 to 120 minutes in an inert gas stream to about 150* to 500*C.
