Abstract
Abstract The invention relates to a method and apparatus for producing glass ampoules in particular double ampoules which comprises drawing an elongated thin neck into a glass tube at a distance from the end of the tube corresponding to the length of one ampoule body. The neck is twice the normal length of an ampoule neck and is later divided in the middle. At a distance from the end of the neck equal to the length of a second ampoule body at least one ampoule is melted off from the tube and simultaneously each ampoule bottom is closed. During drawing of the ampoule neck that portion of the double neck where separation is to be effected, is cooled, to form a funnel-shaped end on each single length neck.
