Abstract
Abstract An aerobic microorganism is cultivated in the presence of a water-immiscible inert organic liquid in which oxygen has high solubility. Examples of the water-immiscible inert organic liquid include a liquid fluorocarbon and a silicone oil of low viscosity. Preferably the inert organic liquid is added to a fermentation medium in an amount of 5 to 80 v/v %, especially 8 to 40 v/v %. Growth, propogation and productivity of fermentation products of the aerobic microorganism are increased.
