Abstract

Abstract An automatically actuable work transfer apparatus is described which is operative to remove a workpiece from a work station and to transfer it to a remote receiving station. The apparatus includes plural independent drives operably connected to the respective components for producing compound movements in a work gripping tool. Arrangement of the apparatus components and associated drives is such as to produce rapid, flexible movements in the gripping tool over an extensive work area. The apparatus occupies a minimal amount of space thereby rendering it conducive to direct attachment to a production machine.
