Abstract

Abstract Disclosed is a process for electrolytically depositing and immobilizing an enzyme by inducing electrolytic migration of the enzyme in an aqueous dispersion thereof, and intercepting the migrating enzyme on an inert, inorganic, porous, sorptive, dimensionally stable, fluid permeable supporting matrix to form a biologically active composite. Preferably, the supporting matrix is ceramic and is formed by compacting and sintering refractory oxide powders such as alumina.
