Abstract

Abstract A process for the production of bottles or the like by the press-and-blow method wherein several neck rings orbit about a vertical axis and wherein each neck ring is moved by a separate motor so that the length of intervals during which the rings dwell at various treating stations and the speed of rings during travel between the stations can be selected as a function of the time reguired for treatment of workpieces carried by the neck rings at or between the stations.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim 136 words
A PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF HOLLOW ARTICLES FROM VITREOUS OR SYNTHETIC PLASTIC MATERIAL ON A MACHINE INCLUDING A PLURALITY OF TREATING STATIONS ARRANGED SPACED FROM EACH OTHER ALONG AN ENDLESS PREDETERMINED PATH, COMPRISING THE STEPS OF TRANSPORTING A PLURALITY OF WORKPIECES ALONG SAID PATH ON A PLURALITY OF WORK-SUPPORTING DEVICE SO THAT THEY ARE MOVED CONSECUTIVELY IN REGISTRY WITH SAID TREATING STATIONS, SAID TRANSPORTING STEP BEING CARRIER OUT BY SEPARATED PRIME MOVER MEANS FOR EACH OF SAID WORK-SUPPORTING DEVICE, AND CONTROLLING THE OPERATION OF EACH OF SAID PRIME MOVER MEANS INDEPENDENTLY OF THE OTHER PRIME MOVER MEANS FOR REGULATING THE MOVEMENT OF THE ASSOCIATED WORK-SUPPORTING DEVICE AT AND BETWEEN SAID STATION AS A FUNCTION OF THE TIME REQUIRED FOR TREATMENT OF THE WORKPIECES CARRIED BY THE RESPECTIVE WORK-SUPPORTING DEVICE AT AND BETWEEN THE RESPECTIVE STATIONS.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 136 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 88 words
A process as defined in claim 1, wherein said work-supporting devices are orbited along two paths having a common point and wherein said treating stations comprise a pressing station at said common point and a blowing station at each of said Two paths spaced in the direction of movement of said work-supporting devices from said common point, and wherein said work-supporting devices in each of said paths are moved respectively in opposite directions and out of phase with the movement of the work-supporting device in the other path.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 30 words
A process as defined in claim 1, wherein said worksupporting devices are arranged to orbit in a common plane at least during the major part of movement along said path.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 54 words
A process as defined in claim 1, wherein said treating stations comprise at least one pressing station and at least one blowing station following the pressing station in direction of movement of said workpieces, and wherein the movement of each worksupporting devices from one to the other station is first accelerated and finally decelerated.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 55 words
Process as defined in claim 4, comprising the steps of maintaining stationarily at each of said pressing and blowing stations a workpiece for a time period necessary for performing the pressing respectively the blowing operation thereon while at the same time moving at least one additional workpiece from one to the other of said stations.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 32 words
A process as defined in claim 5, wherein the time each press and blow station is unoccupied between successive workpieces is small compared to the time each workpiece dwells at said station.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 32 words
A process as defined in claim 1, wherein successive workpieces pressed in said pressing station are alternatingly transported along one and the other path to the blowing station along the respective path.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 36 words
A process as defined in claim 1, and including the step of stopping the worksupporting devices at each of said treating stations for a time required for treatment of the respective workpiece at the respective station.
