Abstract

Abstract Removing sulfur dioxide from an SO2 and oxygen-containing gas by contacting the gas with a solid acceptor for SO2 comprising supported cupric oxide at a temperature between 300 and 500*C and regenerating the solid acceptor by use of a reducing gas at temperatures within the same range as the acceptance temperature.
