Abstract POLYERIC CCMULSIONS ARE HARDENED BY CROSSLINKING WITH MULTIVALENT CATIONS THAT ARE INITIALLY PRESENT IN THE EMULSIONS IN THE FORM OF COMPLEXES WITH COMPLEXING AGENTS. HARDENING OF THE EMULSIONS OCCURS WHEN THE CROSSLINKING CATIONS ARE RELEASED FROM THE COMPLEXES, E.G., BY DISPLACEMENT WITH OTHER CATIONS.
