Abstract
Abstract Colored glass is produced from a mixture of glass making ingredients including boiler slag compositions which may contain little or no sulfur but contain substantial amounts of iron, manganese or other metals required to produce the desired glass colorants. In this way the amount of sulfide and sulfate compounds employed in the glass forming mix can be limited and a significant reduction in sulfur dioxide and other fumes and pollutants discharged from the glass making furnace is effected. At the same time the stability of the glass produced is improved and a greater uniformity in color is assured.
