Abstract A SERIES OF NOVEL 2-OXO-2,3-DIHYDROBENZOFURAN-3-CARBOXAMIDES HAVE BEEN PREPARED, INCLUDING THEIR PHARMACEUTICALLY ACCEPTABLE SALTS. THESE COMPOUNDS ARE USEFUL IN THERAPY AS NON-STERODIAL ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AGENTS. ALTERNATE METHODS OF PREPARATION ARE PROVIDED AND THE PRINCIPAL SYNTHETIC ROUTE IS DESCRIBED IN DETAIL.
