Abstract AZO COMPOUNDS USEFUL AS DYES FOR POLYESTER TEXTILE MATERIALS HAVE AN ANILINE OR A 1,2,3,4-TETRAHYDROQUINOLINE COUPLING COMPONENT AND A 2-THIAZOLYL DIAZO COMPONENT WHICH, AT THE 5-POSITION IS SUBSTITUTED WITH A GROUP HAVING THE FORMULA N*C-C(-X)=CH- IN WHICH X IS A SUBSTITUENT SUCH AS CYANO, ALKOXYCARBONYL, ALKYLSULFONUL, OR CARBAMOYL. THE AZO COMPOUNDS PRODUCE BLUE SHADES ON POLYESTER FIBERS AND EXHIBIT IMPROVED FASTNESS TO LIGHT AND SUBLIMATION.
