Abstract HETEROARRYLOXY ETHERS OF 1-(2-HYDROXYETHYL)-5NITROIMIDAZOLE ARE HEREIN DESCRIBED. THESE COMPOUNDS ARE POTENT ANTI-MICROBIAL AGENTS. THEY ARE PREPARED BY THE REACTION OF A HETEROAROMATIC ALCOHOL WITH 1-(2-CHLOROETHYL)-2METHYL-5-NITROIMIDZABLE IN APROTIC POLAR SOLVENTS IN THE PRESENCE OF BASE AND SODIUM OR POTASSIUM IODIDE.
