Abstract

Abstract A cryosurgical probe having a refrigerated tip with a plurality of surfaces. The surfaces are differently shaped and positioned to facilitate treatment of different bodily tissues. A plurality of insulating sleeves are provided to fit over the probe tip. Each sleeve defines an opening which is positioned to expose a different one of the surfaces. The foregoing abstract is not to be taken either as a complete expostion or as a limitation of the present invention. In order to understand the full nature and extent of the technical disclosure of this application, reference must be had to the following detailed description and the accompanying drawing as well as to the claims.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 58 words
A probe for a cryosurgical apparatus which comprises: an applicator tip of heat conductive material having thereon a plurality of surfaces of different geometrical contours, each surface being adapted to engage body tissue to be treated; and an insulating sleeve removably positioned over said tip, said sleeve defining an opening positioned to expose only one of said surfaces.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 58 words
A probe for a cryosurgical apparatus which comprises: an applicator tip of heat conductive material having thereon a plurality of surfaces of different geometrical contours, each surface being adapted to engage body tissue to be treated; and an insulating sleeve removably positioned over said tip, said sleeve defining an opening positioned to expose only one of said surfaces.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 13 words
The probe of claim 1 wherein said tip has three tissue engaging surfaces.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 22 words
The probe of claim 1 wherein one of said surfaces is substantially cylindrical, one is substantially conical, and one is substantially planar.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 13 words
The probe of claim 3 wherein said opening exposes said substantially cylindrical surface.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 13 words
The probe of claim 3 wherein said opening exposes said substantially conical surface.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 13 words
