Abstract THIS INVENTION RELATES TO NON-FOAMING DETERGENT COMPOSITIONS WHICH INCLUDE NONIONIC DETERGENT OR A MIXTURE OF NONIONIC AND ANIONIC DETERGENTS, BUILDER SALT, AND DIALKYL MELAMINE, THE DIALKYLMELAMINE BEING PRESENT IN SUFFICIENT PROPORTION TO MAKE A COMBINATION OF SYNTHETIC DETERGENT(S) AND BUILDER NON-FOAMING OR ESSENTIALLY NON-FOAMING IN WASH WATERS OF USUAL DILUTIONS FOR WASHING MACHINE USE. THE COMPOSITIONS ARE EFFECTIVE LAUNDERING AGENTS, PRIMARILY INTENDED FOR USE IN AUTOMATIC WASHING MACHINES AND IN ALMOST ALL PRACTICAL USES ARE NON-FOAMING, EVEN WHEN USED IN THE NORMALLY FOAM GENERATING HORIZONTAL TUMBER TYPE OF MACHINE.
