Abstract
Abstract An apparatus for grit blasting the edge of a plate or the like comprises a frame carrying shield means enclosing a portion of the edge, at least one jet nozzle for directing a stream of blasting grit and compressed air towards the enclosed portion of the edge, and two sets of rollers for positioning said nozzle in relation to the edge. One set of said rollers is mounted on a loaded pincer like tool to make the apparatus suited to work on plates of different thicknesses.

237 words
An apparatus for grit blasting the edge of a plate-like workpiece by means of a device enclosing a portion of said edge and, in use, being displaceable with respect to said edge, the device including at least one jet nozzle directed towards the edge, as well as a conduit for sucking away the grit, said apparatus comprising a frame, including the end portion of said suction conduit; two aligned brackets extending from opposite sides of said frame; two pairs of crossed legs mounted upon said end portion so as to present one shank of each pair to each side of the aligned brackets; a first sliding member mounted at each end of said brackets; a beam interconnecting the two shanks presented to each side of the aligned brackets, and being generally parallel therewith; a further sliding member at each end of each beam; a flexible skirt member mounted on the frame and enclosing a space defined by said first and said further sliding members; and at least one grit-ejecting jet nozzle mounted on the frame and directed towards said space; said sliding members being formed as rollers, the rollers forming said first sliding members having their axis of rotation perpendicular to the plane of such plate-like workpiece, while the rollers forming said further sliding members are mounted with their axis of rotation parallel to the plane of such plate-like workpiece and perpendicular to the direction of displacement.
