Abstract
Abstract A decorative loose-lay surface covering having a resilient thermoplastic decorative wear layer and a resilient foamed thermoplastic backing layer specifically adapted for absorbing movement between the loose-lay surface covering and the subfloor with which it is in contact. The backing layer is constructed such that there are a plurality of rigid elements separated by a resilient and compliant matrix in a plane parallel to the upper surfaces of the covering and subfloor.
