Abstract

Abstract Method and apparatus for monitoring the operation of a well which is produced by a beam pumping unit. A load transducer is secured to the surface support structure of the beam pumping unit such that it generates a signal representative of load changes in the support structure as the walking beam is reciprocated. The transducer may take the form of an elongated bar which is secured to the support structure by longitudinally spaced rigid connections. The transducer bar as disclosed is mounted on the top of the walking beam.
