Claim 1
Independent Claim
60 words
A fastener comprising an elongated member having a free end; a housing having a channel extending therethrough from one opening to another; and a vane comprising locking means, in said channel, which is laterally deflectable by said member regardless of the opening into which said free end is inserted. said vane having a free end which projects into said channel.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
60 words
A fastener comprising an elongated member having a free end; a housing having a channel extending therethrough from one opening to another; and a vane comprising locking means, in said channel, which is laterally deflectable by said member regardless of the opening into which said free end is inserted. said vane having a free end which projects into said channel.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
26 words
A fastener as defined in claim 1 wherein said housing is open at opposed ends thereof to permit the bidirectional entry of said elongated member therein.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
31 words
A fastener as defined in claim 2 wherein said housing has longitudinally extending side walls and said locking means comprises first and second locking vanes oppositely mounted on said side walls.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
19 words
A fastener as defined in claim 2 wherein a protective band girds said housing to limit the compression thereof.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
22 words
A fastener as defined in claim 1 wherein the locking means comprises a locking vane that is longitudinally rooted in said housing.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
23 words
A fastener as defined in claim 1 further including means associated with the locking means for guiding said elongated member into said housing.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
14 words
A fastener as defined in claim 6 wherein the guiding means comprises a ramp.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
19 words
A fastener as defined in claim 7 wherein said ramp is included as a portion of said locking means.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
31 words
A fastener as defined in claim 7 wherein the locking means comprises a locking vane and said ramp is mounted on an interior wall of said housing opposite said locking vane.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
17 words
A fastener as defined in claim 1 wherein the locking means comprises first and second locking vanes.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
19 words
A fastener as defined in claim 10 wherein said first and second locking vanes are parallel to each other.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim
63 words
A fastener comprising a member having a free end; a housing having a channel therein for receiving the free end of said member; and a vane, in said channel, which is laterally deflectable by said member; said vane being rooted in said channel substantially along the axis of insertion of said member and being deflectable thereby to hold said member in said channel.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim
63 words
A fastener comprising a member having a free end; a housing having a channel therein for receiving the free end of said member; and a vane, in said channel, which is laterally deflectable by said member; said vane being rooted in said channel substantially along the axis of insertion of said member and being deflectable thereby to hold said member in said channel.
