Abstract
Abstract In the manufacture of carpets having an attached layer of latex foam rubber, it was known to apply a precoat of a compounded liquid latex onto the underside of the carpet before applying the foamed latex layer. It has now been found that the slow drying or poor foam structure at the carpet/foam rubber interface encountered in such prior processes can be overcome by use of a foamed precoat. The foamed precoat can be applied in much smaller amounts than the prior liquid precoats.
