Abstract
Abstract A tape transport characterized by a movable carriage for supporting a cartridge containing a roll of tape includes means for first centering the roll of tape on the axis of rotation of a spindle supported by the carriage and, under application of pressure to the cartridge envelope, the end of the hub portion of the roll registers squarely against a registration surface disposed normal to the axis of rotation of the spindle so as to minimize run-out in feeding the tape from the cartridge as well as to center the mid-plane of the roll within the cartridge envelope.
