Abstract SUBSTITUTED S-DICHLOROMETHYL ORGANOTHIOSULFONATES ARE PREPARED FROM SUBSTITUTED DICHLOROMETHANE SULFENYL CHLORIDES BY REACTION WITH AN IONIZED ORGANOSLUFINATE IN THE PRESENCE OF WATER AND AN IMMISCIBLE ORGANIC SOLVENT. THESE COMPOUNDS ARE PESTICIDALLY ACTIVE AND PARTICULARLY USEFUL AS PRE-EMERGENT HERBICIDES.
