Abstract

Abstract Toughened glass of thickness in the range 0.8 mm to 3.5 mm is obtained by quenching in a two-component liquid medium, and has a modulus of rupture of from 14 X 103 p.s.i. and, upon destruction by sharp impact fracture, shatters into from 8 to 100 fragments per cm2 of the glass.
