Abstract
Abstract Two sheets of a styrene-butadiene (SBR) type rubber molded together totally encapsulating a heating wire network and a crimp-set overheat thermostat provide a greatly improved waterproof water bed heater. By incorporating a hydrostatic pressure resisting shield or cover for protection of the crimp-set thermostat, and by using uncured styrene-butadiene type rubber, an efficient, economical water bed heater is manufactured by vulcanization under high fabrication pressures which exceed the normal thermostat pressure tolerances.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim
16 words
Apparatus as defined in claim 1, wherein said fiber reinforced elastomer layers comprise nylon reinforced neoprene.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
52 words
Apparatus as defined in claim 1, wherein said thermostat cover is a unitary element formed from molding together a plurality of layers of a styrene butadiene type rubber, at least some of which are of different configurations to conform substantially in an enveloping fashion to the size and shape of said thermostat.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
33 words
Apparatus as defined in claim 1, wherein said thermostat is attached to said heating wire assembly in juxtaposed facing relationship to the area of the heating wire assembly comprising the greatest wire density.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
52 words
Apparatus as defined in claim 1, wherein said cover prior to molding is a flat pressure-resistant shield incorporating a bottom surface having a substantially greater area than a top surface with short tapering sides extending between the top and bottom surface, thereby providing a low profile thermostat enclosure to said heater pad.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
16 words
Apparatus as defined in claim 1, wherein said heater pad is sUbstantially free of entrapped air.
