Abstract A METHOD OF CATALYST MANUFACTURE. AN AQUEOUS SOLUTION OF A WEAK BASE ANND A GERMANIUM COMPOUND IS DISSOLVED IN AN ACIDIC ALUMINA SOL AT BELOW GELATION TEMPERATURE AND THE RESULTING MIXTURE TREATED AT AN ELEVATED TEMPERATURE EFFECTING HYDROLYSIS OF THE WEAK BASE AND GELATION OF THE MIXTURE. THE WEAK BASE IS PREFERABLY HEXAMETHYLENETETRAMINE AND THE GERMANIUM COMPOUND IS GERMANIUM DIOXIDE OR A COMPOUND HYDROLYZABLE THERETO. THE PRODUCT IS FURTHER COMPOSITED WITH A PLATINUM GROOUP METAL TO YIELD AN IMPROVED REFORMING CATALYST.
