Abstract

Abstract A device is described in which amplified spontaneous emission from a high-gain laser medium illuminates an object through an optical system that also serves to collect the reflected or scattered light from the object and return it through the laser medium to form a highly amplified image. By modification of the optical system and control of the gain factor, the invention can be adapted for various uses including projection or etching of the amplified image on a substrate.
