Abstract
Abstract A PROCESS FOR PRODUCING ALUMINUM TRIALKYLS OF CONTROLLED ALKYL CHAIN LENGTHS IS DISCLOSED. ETHYLENE IS POLYMERIZED TO 1-OLEFINS WHICH ARE SEPARATED INTO 1-OLEFINS OF SELECTED CHAIN LENGTHS. THE SEPARATED 1-OLEFINS ARE REACTED WITH ALUMINUM AND HYDROGEN TO PRODUCE THE ALUMINUM TRIALKYLS WHICH CAN BE SUBSEQUENTLY GROWN WITH ETHYLENE TO INCREASE CHAIN LENGTHS. THE TRIALKYLS CAN THEN BE OXIDIZED AND HYDROLYZED TO PRODUCE PRIMARY ALCOHOLS.
