Abstract AN EFFICIENT PROCESS FOR THE COPOLYMERIZATION OF CHLOROTRIFLUOROETHYLENE AND ETHYLENE IS PROVIDED BY CONTACTING A MIXTURE OF THE MONOMERS IN AN AQUEOUS SYSTEM WITH A REDOX CATALYST SYSTEM COMPRISING A PERSULFATE OXIDIZING AGENT, AN AMMONIUM OR ALKALI METAL SULFUR-CONTAINING SALT REDUCING AGENT, AND A BUFFERING AGENT. A PREFERRED CATALYST SYSTEM IS A MIXTURE OF POTASSIUM PERSULFATE, SODIUM BISULFITE, AND SODIUM TETRABORATE.
