Abstract
Abstract The present invention concerns improvements in the mechanisms for driving the towers of a self-propelled sprinkler of the type which includes a length of pipe supported by an array of towers and with one end of the pipe connected to a water supply pivot about which the sprinkler moves. Ordinarily, the drive at the outermost tower is set to move that tower at a selected rate while the drives at the intermediate towers are controlled by the flexure of the pipe to compensatively speed up or slow down the movement of those towers to hold the pipe in a substantially straight alignment as it rotates about its pivot point.
