Abstract An antimicrobial and softening composition for laundry use comprises a water-soluble heavy metal-free non-oxidizing antimicrobial agent, and a glycamide of the formula: WHEREIN R1 and R2 are alkyl groups having a total of 23 to 39 carbon atoms, and n is 3 or 4, preferably 4.
