Abstract
Abstract A land air vehicle comprising a chassis in which is journalled a pair of front steerable wheels and rear driven wheels, a superstructure mounted to said chassis journalling a helicopter rotor assembly, a compressor for creating a supply of pressurized air, a pneumatic motor coupled to the rear wheels, which motor is driven by the compressed air, and a jet propulsion system coupled to the rotor assembly also driven by said compressed air. The vehicle includes control means for selectively operating one or the other of the pneumatic motor or jet propulsion system in manual or automatic operation.

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim
278 words
An air vehicle, comprising a body member and having a supply of compressed fluid as a source of power, a hollow support extending vertically upwardly from said body and sealingly connected to said source of fluid, an elongated hollow standard extending upwardly from the upper end of said support, means for journaling the lower end of said standard within said support to permit substantial universal movement about the axis of said support, said journal means sealing said standard in fluid tight relationship with respect to said support, a hollow rotor housing secured on the upper end of said standard to rotate about the axis of said standard and sealed in fluid tight relationship therewith, gimbal means mounted within said rotor housing, a rotor blade secured to said gimbal means and extending outwardly of said rotor housing in fluid sealed arrangement therewith, said blade having a hollow duct communicating with the interior of said housing extending along its length, means for maneuvering said gimbal to cause said blade to pivot about its axis and to tilt with respect to an axis perpendicular to the blade and through the center of standard, and means for moving said standard about its journal to pivot said housing, a jet propulsion nozzle connected to said duct located at the outward end of said blade to expel fluid therefrom tangentially and to the rear of said blade, and conduit means extending directly from the supply of compressed fluid to said tubular support whereby said compressed fluid is fed through said standard housing, duct and said jet propulsion nozzle to rotate said rotor housing, notwithstanding the position or attitude of the housing standard or blade.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
130 words
The assembly according to claim 1 including A pair of horizontally disposed concentric rings, a first pair of diametrically opposed pivot pins securing the inner of said rings to the interior wall of said rotor housing, a second pair of diametrically opposed pivot pins securing the inner of said rings to the outer ring, said second pair of pivot pins being offset 90* from said first pair of pivot pins, said rotor blade being secured to the outer ring in axial alignment with said first pair of pivot pins whereby on pivoting of said inner ring the blade will pivot about its axis and on pivoting of said outer ring the blade will tilt with respect to an axis perpendicular to the blade and through the center of said rings.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
64 words
The assembly according to claim 2 including a steering control rod mounted within said tubular support and adapted to engage with at least a portion of its interior wall, means for moving said control rod azimuthally with respect to said vertical axis thereby pivoting said tubular support about its journalled end to thereby effect tilting of said rotor housing with respect to said vehicle.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
40 words
The assembly according to claim 3 including means linking said steering control rod to the inner ring of said blade mounting whereby axial movement of said control rod within said tubular support effects pivoting of said blade about its axis.
