Abstract

Abstract The halides of aliphatic carboxylic acids having 8 to 22 carbon atoms can be reacted with acidic amino acids to form N-acyl amino acids in very good yields if the reaction is carried out in an alkaline solvent medium of 20 - 85 percent (vol.) water and 80 15 percent acetone, methylethylketone, dioxane, tetrahydrofuran, tert-butanol, or cyclohexanone.
