Abstract
Abstract EQUIPTMENT FOR HEAT SEALING PRODUCTS HAVING AT LEAST ONE THERMOPLASTIC COMPONENT IS DESCRIBED. THE MECHANISM FOR HEAT SEALING ITSELF INCLUDED MEANS FOR PRE-HEATING AN ELECTRICAL HEATING ELEMENT WHICH SUPPORTS THE PRODUCT TO BE HEAT SEALED. THE ELECTRICAL HEATING ELEMENT IS ASSOCIATED WITH MEANS FOR CONTROLLING THE DURATION AND VALUE OF THE ELECTRIC HEATING CURRENT. THE ELECTRIC CURRENT IS CONVENIENTLY PROPORTIONED TO MACHINE SPEED SO THAT PRODUCTS MOVING THROUGH THE EQUIPMENT AT LOWER SPEED MAY BE SUBJECTED TO A LESS INTENSE HEATING CURRENT. THE SEALING OPERATION IS SPECIFICALLY APPLIED TO DIAPERS OF THE DISPOSABLE TYPE HAVING A LIQUID IMPERVIOUS POLYETHYLENE BACKING, A LIQUID PERMEABLE REINFORCED PAPER TISSUE, A FILLING OF ABSORBENT MATERIAL, AND AN INSERT OF HIGH MELT INDEX POLYETHYLENE FILM MATERIAL TO PROVIDE AT DIAPER ENDS A STRUCTURE IN THE FORM OF A DAM.
