Abstract
Abstract Pharmaceutical composition containing as active ingredient an 11-halogen substituted steroid of the formula WHEREIN R is hydrogen, aliphatic acyl of up to 15 carbon atoms or aliphatic acyl having up to a total of 15 carbon atoms and being substituted with chlorine, or a carboxylic acid group, a nitryl group or a sulphate group and wherein X and Y are halogen, the molecular weight of Y being at least equal to that of X. The compositions of the invention are useful particularly as anti-inflammatory agents. The invention also embraces a method of treating patients suffering from inflammatory conditions with the defined compositions.
