Abstract A PROCESS FOR PRODUCING MONOCRYSTALS FROM A MELT OF III-V COMPOUNDS CONTAINING A COMPONENT WHICH IS VOLATILE AT THE MELTING POINT OF THE COMPOUND, WHICH CONPRISES BY SETTING THE VAPOR PRESSURE OF THE VOLATILE COMPONENT, BY SETTING THE VAPOR PRESSURE OF THE VOLTAGE COMPONENT, COATING THE SURFACE OF THE MELT OF SAID UUU-V COMPOUND WITH AN AREA, PREFERABLY A RIM, OR BORON OXIDE MELT, AND DRAWING A MONOCRYSTAL FROM THE MELT.
