Abstract A PROCESS IS DISCLOSED FOR IMPROVING THE SURFACE FINISH QUALITY OF RELATIVELY SMALL DIAMETER MAGNETIC STORAGE WIRE PRODUCED BY DRAWING RELATIVELY LARGE DIAMETER RAW STOCK WIRE THROUGH SUCCESSIVE DIAMETER REDUCING DIES. AN IMPROVEMENT IN THE QUALITY OF THE WIRE I OBTAINED BY ELECTROPOLISHING THE WIRE TO REDUCE THE SIZE AND DENSITY OF SURFACE BLEMISHES WHICH OCCUR IN THE WIRE IN THE FORM OF SMAL HOLES AND CRACKS. APPROPRIATE ELECTROLYTE AND APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING THE ELECTROPOLISHING PROCESS IS ALSO DISCLOSED.
