Abstract

Abstract Apparatus for parenteral administration of medical fluids, wherein a peristaltic infusion pump is automatically regulated by a digital control system to establish a fluid flow rate at any selected rate in a wide dynamic range, typically a 100 to 1 range. Measured and desired flow rates are converted to digital signals and compared, the electrical difference being used to vary a control voltage which establishes the frequency of pulses energizing a stepping motor drive for the pump. Aural and visual alarms respond to out-of-limit conditions detected by appropriate monitoring circuits in the control system.
