Abstract
Abstract The invention applies to sheaths for protecting underwater bodies such as piles by surrounding the body with the lower end of the sheath secured to the body and the space between the sheath and the body filled with a yieldable filler material. The improvement is that the filler material is an expandible, synthetic material expanded in place between the shell and the body to form a closed-cell foam having a snug, sealing bond with the surface of the body.
